APF says man killed during retaliatory firing while checking vehicles near India border



SUNSARI: The Armed Police Force (APF) has said that a man was killed during retaliatory firing while security personnel were checking vehicles entering Nepal from India near the APF Base Camp BOP Laukahi in Sunsari.

According to the APF, the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Vijay Sah of Koshi Rural Municipality–1. The incident occurred when APF personnel attempted to inspect two auto city safaris coming from India.

APF sources said that during the check, a person riding in one of the vehicles opened fire at the security personnel. In response, the APF returned fire. Five rounds were fired from an SLR, and during the exchange, city safari driver Vijay Sah was shot dead on the spot.

The APF said further investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the firing.
