KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary has pledged to make public the Lal Commission report on the Tikapur incident, saying the truth must be established to ensure a just resolution.
Speaking at an event organized by the Tharu Welfare Council on Sunday, Chaudhary stressed the importance of making the report public and addressing the concerns and demands of the Tharu community.
The Tharu Welfare Council marks Tikapur Uprising Day every year on Bhadra 7 with various programmes. This year, it organized an interaction titled “Tikapur Uprising: Issues and Demands of the Movement and the Way Forward,” along with discussions on “Common Questions of the Tharu Community in the Context of Nepal’s Constitution and the Need for Amendment.”
Addressing the event, Chaudhary said the government was working to address the concerns and demands of the Tharu community. She reiterated her commitment to promoting their rights, identity and access to justice.
She also assured participants that the government would make the Lal Commission report public and address the legitimate demands of the Tharu community.
