Prohibitory order comes into effect near Narayanhiti Palace Museum

KATHMANDU: A prohibitory order imposed by the government in the Narayanhiti Palace Museum area, Durbar Marg, in response to the growing pro-monarchy movement, came into effect from today.

Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Rishi Ram Tiwari, issued a statement on Friday announcing a ban on gatherings of more than five people in the designated area.

The order also prohibits protest activities including hunger strikes, sit-ins, encirclements, processions, demonstrations, and public meetings.

The restricted zone will remain in effect from Saturday until July 8, 2025.

According to Tiwari, the restricted area extends from Keshar Mahal Chowk through the southern gate of the Narayanhiti Palace Museum to Jay Nepal.

Additionally, the stretch from the Mahendra Salik (statue) to the southern gate of the museum has also been declared restricted.
