Bagmati CM Thapa to seek vote of confidence today

HETAUDA: The Bagmati Province Assembly is holding its meeting today, with Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar expected to seek a vote of confidence.

The meeting began at 1 pm, and the Provincial Assembly Secretariat said Thapa is likely to table the confidence motion during the session.

Thapa was appointed chief minister by Bagmati Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota on Bhadra 20 after claiming support from the CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

However, the RPP is divided over its decision to support Thapa’s appointment. The Nepali Congress, meanwhile, has instructed its Provincial Assembly members through a party whip to vote against the chief minister’s confidence motion.
