Dasharath Stadium declared unfit by AFC again

KATHMANDU: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has once again declared Dasharath Stadium unfit to host international matches, forcing Nepal to lose its home advantage for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifiers against Malaysia and Vietnam.

An AFC inspection team concluded that the stadium failed to meet international standards in terms of safety measures, pitch quality, floodlights, and physical infrastructure.

The stadium has been repeatedly declared unfit over the years, affecting both AFC and FIFA matches, including qualifiers against Bahrain and Kuwait earlier.

Kiran Rai, General Secretary of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), said Nepal was stripped of its home fixtures due to the stadium’s shortcomings.

He stressed the urgent need for both renovation of the Dasharath Stadium and the construction of a new, modern football venue.
