Prachanda: Communist unity needed to resist foreign interference

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, has stated that communist forces have united to resist foreign elements that challenge the Nepali people’s right to self-determination.

Speaking at a unity message gathering in Deukhuri, Dang on Saturday, he said the unification aims to confront reactionary and interventionist foreign forces by taking the people into confidence.

He added that the recent Gen-Z movement made it clear that even a two-thirds majority is powerless without public support.

Prachanda accused the previous government of protecting corrupt individuals, claiming that arrogance of power forced the then prime minister to flee Baluwatar in a helicopter.

He said some leaders still have not let go of their ego, even after being chased by the people. He stressed that the newly united communist force would review past mistakes and advance the concerns raised by the Gen-Z generation.

Similarly, senior leader and co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal said the unified party was formed with a commitment to continue good practices while correcting weaknesses.

He said the party’s focus is on ensuring equality and improving the lives of the people, adding that they will take up the agenda raised by the youth and work to establish socialism in the country.
