Heavy snowfall disrupts transport in Mustang

MUSTANG: Continuous snowfall since Monday night has disrupted daily life and obstructed transportation in several parts of Mustang district.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chhiring Kippa Lama, vehicular movement along the Charang–Lomanthang road section has been severely affected due to thick snow accumulation. “Up to eight inches of snow has covered the road from Thurlung Faat, where the Nepal Army barracks is located, to Lomanthang, making travel difficult,” Lama said.

Security personnel from the Armed Police Force’s Border Outpost (BOP) at Nhechung in Lomanthang–2 were deployed on Tuesday to clear snow from the Chhoser–Korala road.

Meanwhile, the Kagbeni–Muktinath road, which had also been affected by snow, has now reopened, Lama added.

Heavy snowfall across upper Mustang has blanketed the hills and ridges in white, affecting movement and daily life from Ghami to Korala and the Muktinath region.
