Jeep accident update: Victims identified



TRIVENI: The identities of all those killed and injured in a jeep accident in Kotgaun, Sanibheri Rural Municipality–6, Rukum West, have been confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old jeep driver Sundar Khadka Magar of Rugha, Triveni Rural Municipality–1, and 16-year-old Premkala Pun of Sanibheri Rural Municipality–6, according to Police Inspector Hemant Giri, information officer at the District Police Office, Rukum West. Both died at the scene.

Twelve people were injured in the accident. Four seriously injured passengers,  38-year-old Bal Bahadur Pun, 15-year-old Purna Bahadur Jaisi, 50-year-old Kaushila Pun and 15-year-old Khimla Pun, all from Sanibheri Rural Municipality-6,  were airlifted to Provincial Hospital Surkhet by a Nepal Army helicopter for further treatment, Inspector Giri said.

The other injured passengers are receiving treatment at Chaurjahari Hospital.

The jeep, registration number Lu 1 Cha 6029, was travelling from Kotgaun towards Simli this morning when it plunged about 100 metres from the inner road connecting Simli and Duli near the ward office.

Police said the jeep went out of control and crashed.
