Four arrested on charges of robbing gold and cash



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police arrested four individuals on charges of robbing gold, cash, and other valuables from a woman in Nepaltar, Tarakeswar Municipality, Kathmandu.

A team deployed from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, apprehended the suspects, who allegedly robbed a female bank employee and were presented to the media today.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ishwor Budhathoki, 27, of Syangja and currently residing in Tarakeswar; Bishal Rai, 20, of Nuwakot and Tarakeswar; Sajan Tamang, 18, of Nuwakot; and Samir Tamang, 19, of Nuwakot. They are accused of robbing the woman and fleeing the scene.

According to Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the suspects allegedly stole a bag containing cash, gold, bank keys, a mobile phone, and important documents while the woman was walking home in the evening.

The group allegedly carried out the robbery using a motorcycle. Police have recovered 12.630 grams of gold earrings, 7.8 grams of a gold top, Rs. 2,500 in cash, as well as a mobile phone, a key ring, and other items from the arrested suspects.

The Kathmandu District Court has remanded all four individuals to five days in custody for further investigation.
