Nepal’s parliamentarians condemn Kashmir attack



KATHMANDU: The extremist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir of India, which claimed 27 lives last Tuesday, was brought up during a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday.

MP Saraj Ahmed Farooqui strongly condemned the attack and called for strict action against the perpetrators.

Farooqui also took issue with RPP MP Gyanendra Shahi’s statement, which he argued aimed to disrupt social harmony and hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community in Nepal.

Similarly, Maoist Center lawmaker Shakti Bahadur Basnet criticized the government for focusing solely on appointments and urged it to address the legitimate demands of teachers.

MP Ramhari Khatiwada emphasized the need for search and rescue operations for Nepali worker Bipin Joshi, whose condition remains unknown after working in Israel.

MP Thakur Prasad Gaire also condemned the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that resulted in 26 deaths.

MP Ramkrishna Yadav expressed grief over the tragic deaths of mother Pabitra Sah and her three children in Shahidnagar Municipality, Dhanusha on April 21, and demanded an investigation.

MP Sher Bahadur Kunwar voiced concerns about the increasing number of fire incidents in Achham and called for compensation for the victims.

MP Tara Lama demanded action against the perpetrators of the brutal murder of Harikrishna Rana from Beldandi Rural Municipality on April 21. He also urged the government to be practical in addressing the teachers’ demands.

MP Asim Sah suggested that social media platforms be registered and operated according to Nepal’s laws, and called for clarification of existing legal ambiguities.

MP Ishwor Bahadur Rijal reaffirmed that the monarchy, which was abolished through the people’s struggle, would not return, adding that regressive thinking would not be tolerated.

MP Anita Devi condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and emphasized the need for global unity to eliminate terrorism.

MP Kiran Kumar Sah condemned the religiously motivated attack on tourists in Pahalgam and asked the government for its strategy to prevent such terrorist activities.

MP Jwala Kumari Sah condemned both the Pahalgam attack and a similar incident in Tinkune, Kathmandu, labeling both as unacceptable.

MP Ganesh Parajuli urged the government to fully operationalize the Pokhara International Airport, while MP Tshering Damdul Lama requested information about the decision-making process for appointing the chairman of the Insurance Authority.
