Dhanauji Rural Municipality provides Rs. 2.2 million assistance to Bhotekoshi flood victims



JANAKPURDHAM: Dhanauji Rural Municipality of Dhanusha has decided to provide Rs. 2.2 million in assistance for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River.

According to a press release issued by the rural municipality, Rs. 700,000 will be deposited from its disaster management fund into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. It has also decided to raise Rs. 1.5 million through deductions from the monthly salaries of elected representatives, employees and teachers of the rural municipality.

A statement signed by Rural Municipality Chairperson Rajkumar Sah and Chief Administrative Officer Rajkumar Das said the decision was taken to support the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the disaster.

The rural municipality paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. It also wished those injured and affected by the floods a speedy recovery, safe rehabilitation and a return to normal life.

The rural municipality said the suffering caused by the Bhotekoshi floods was not limited to a particular geography or community but represented a shared pain for the entire nation.

It has urged the state, local governments, civil society, private sector, organisations and the general public to extend support from their respective levels for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by natural disasters.
