Central security committee to mobilize medics to curb cholera in Birgunj



KATHMANDU: The meeting of the central security committee decided to mobilize a team of medical practitioners in the cholera-hit Bijgunj city, Parsa.

The committee meeting was chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

In the meeting, Minister Lekhak directed the subordinates to ensure the team to be fanned out immediately in the cholera-hit area.

He directed the Nepali Army, the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force to pay adequate attention to it, according to Spokesperson at Home Ministry, Ananda Kafle.

The peace and security situation across the country was reviewed in the meeting attended by Secretary at Home Ministry, Gokarna Mani Duwadi, and chiefs of the security agencies.

Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, and Minister for Drinking Water, Pradip Yadav, held a discussion how cholera outbreak could be controlled in Birgunj city.

Minister Poudel had informed during the discussion that the arrangement was ensured for the immediate treatment of cholera patients for free of cost at both public and private hospitals.
