Prachanda urges strong parliamentary presence from Maoist leaders

KATHMANDU: Chair of the Maoist Centre and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called on the government to address the legitimate demands of teachers and urged his party’s lawmakers to present themselves strongly in the upcoming budget session of Parliament.

Speaking at a meeting of the party’s parliamentary party held today, Dahal said that he has been holding discussions with representatives of teachers, doctors, and microfinance victims, and stressed that the government must take initiative to resolve their issues.

According to Dahal’s personal secretariat, the party chair underscored the need for active engagement from Maoist Centre lawmakers in pushing key legislative agendas, including the Federal Civil Service Act and the School Education Bill.

Dahal also expressed optimism about the party’s growing organizational strength, noting that public trust in the Maoist Centre is being revived through initiatives like the Tarai-Madhes Awareness Campaign. He said that new members with strong grassroots support are joining the party, further energizing its base.

The meeting reviewed the current political landscape, government performance, the party’s parliamentary role, and rising public expectations.
