Massive landslide blocks Narayangadh–Muglin road indefinitely at Twin Khola

KATHMANDU: A massive landslide struck near Twin Khola along the Narayangadh–Muglin road section in Chitwan on Tuesday, forcing authorities to shut down traffic indefinitely.

According to field reporter Binod Shrestha, the landslide occurred while multiple bulldozers were clearing debris from earlier slides. A large section of the hillside collapsed, burying the road completely.

The Department of Roads had been intermittently reopening the route for one-way and two-way traffic over the past week despite frequent landslides in the area. However, officials said the latest collapse is too large to be cleared immediately.

Thousands of passengers traveling home for the Dashain festival have been stranded since the road closure, which first began last Friday evening following another landslide at the same spot.
