Chitwan Police resume ‘Let Us Visit Chitwan’ program

CHITWAN: The District Police Office has resumed the ‘Ghumau Chitwan (Let Us Visit Chitwan)’ program, aimed at promoting domestic tourism by rotating police personnel across different locations within the district.

The initiative, which was temporarily halted due to the Gen Z movement (September 8-9, 2025) and the elections, is expected to encourage police officers to explore local tourist destinations while on duty.

The program also focuses on managing stress, fostering camaraderie, engaging in recreational activities, sharing experiences, and promoting tourism awareness.

According to Superintendent Govinda Puri, Chief of the District Police Office, the activities include boat rides, rafting, hiking, and other tourism-related experiences within Chitwan National Park. Officers are also encouraged to visit neighbouring districts to explore local attractions, participate in activities, and broaden their knowledge.

SP Puri emphasized that the rotational programme directly benefits police personnel by helping them relax, refresh, and gain geographical awareness, which proves useful when they are transferred to new postings. The initiative was first introduced about a year ago.

Currently, 900 police officers work under the District Police Office in Chitwan, providing services across 73 units, including the District Traffic Police Office and eight Area Police Offices.
