President Paudel stresses self-discipline, compassion, and non-violence

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has underscored the importance of translating the core principles of Buddhist philosophy—self-discipline, compassion, tolerance, and non-violence—into practice.

Speaking at a program on Friday attended by lamas and nuns who had completed the 47th nationwide visit representing various monasteries, President Paudel said that putting these principles into action while preserving both the tangible and intangible Buddhist heritage would gradually open avenues for national benefit.

The president expressed confidence that the Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee would play a more effective role in the future.

He noted that such pilgrimages foster a positive environment for the promotion of religious tourism and contribute to the preservation, development, and promotion of Buddhism and its philosophy.

“I believe that visits to Buddhist pilgrimage sites help foster sustainable peace and development in the country,” he added.

President Paudel said the returning lamas and nuns not only completed a spiritual journey but also carried messages of religious harmony and spiritual enrichment for Nepali society. He also lauded the monastery development committees for their contribution to Buddhist education, cultural revitalization, and spiritual practice.
