Finance Ministry tightens entry amid final budget preparations

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has restricted access to its premises as it intensifies final preparations for the upcoming national budget. The move comes after the consultation phase for the fiscal year 2025/26 budget has been completed.

“All discussions and consultations with stakeholders regarding the budget have concluded. Preparatory work is currently underway,” said Than Prasad Pangeni, Chief of the Administration Division at the Ministry. “To ensure the process is systematic and well-coordinated, we’ve decided to tighten access to the ministry.”

During the Nepali month of Baisakh, the ministry had kept its doors open for wide consultations with various stakeholders, providing easy access for feedback and suggestions.

Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is scheduled to present the national budget for fiscal year 2025/26 in the Federal Parliament on May 29.
