Infrastructure development a top priority for Maoist Centre: Prachanda

GANDAKI: Chairperson of the Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized that infrastructure development remains a top priority for his party.

He made this statement while attending a program organized by Tarakhola Rural Municipality in Baglung district today.

During the event, Dahal pledged to advocate for sufficient budget allocation to upgrade the Shahid Marga (Martyr Road) in Tarakhola. “We will request the government to allocate funds for expanding the road that connects Tarakhola Rural Municipality to the national road network,” he said.

He noted that past efforts to include Shahid Marga in the national budget had been unsuccessful, but assured that a “special effort” would be made this time.

The 20-kilometer road links the rural municipality to the provincial capital. Although selected for blacktopping nearly four years ago, the project has faced delays due to various issues, including funding shortages.

Dahal highlighted the road’s strategic significance for boosting local markets and tourism. He also praised the rural municipality’s achievements in infrastructure development and public service delivery, despite challenges such as geographical remoteness and limited resources.

On a separate note, he remarked that the party’s recently launched “Mid-Hill Highway Campaign” has helped to strengthen ties with the public.
