KATHMANDU: Free transportation services will be provided to devotees visiting the Pashupatinath temple today (Monday).
Member Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust, Subash Chandra Joshi stated that this initiative is being supported by the religious community and transport entrepreneurs.
According to Joshi, four public buses will start operation for free starting at 4:00 AM on Monday to transport devotees to and from Pashupatinath.
Two of these buses are provided by Nepal Book Depot and the remaining two by local transport entrepreneurs.
This is the first time such a service is being made available for devotees from early morning hours. The Trust has informed that this year, pilgrims will be allowed inside the main temple for ‘darshan’ in a managed queue system, which is expected to take about one hour for entry and exit.
To protect visitors from the sun, the Nepal Army Welfare Fund will set up tents around the main temple area. Additionally, a help desk will be operational from 3:00 AM onwards to assist devotees.
It is estimated that around 7,500 people will visit Pashupatinath temple on Monday.
Free health camps, drinking water distribution, and food services will also be available in the Pashupati area. Security arrangements have been strengthened, with police deployment from Gaushala.
