One of three boys missing in Danav River found dead, search continues for others

BHAIRAHAWA: The body of one of the three boys who went missing while swimming in the Danav River in Rupandehi has been recovered, while two others remain missing as of the time of reporting.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Suraj Karki, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the body of 14-year-old Rajan Yadav was found near the spot where he had drowned.

The three boys from Sano Ardauli in Lumbini Cultural Municipality-2 had gone to the nearby river to swim. A local eyewitness, a friend of the victims, informed Ward Chair Enamullah Fakir that the boys were swept into a deep section of the river near the Baghaha Baba temple while bathing.

Though Rajan’s ancestral home is in the same locality, he had been living in Sainamaina with his parents. He had returned to the village just two days ago due to school holidays.

DSP Karki said that the search operation is still ongoing for the remaining two boys—13-year-old Umesh Yadav and 12-year-old Mannu Harijan.
