Nepal and Oman sign MoUs on energy and tourism cooperation



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, held bilateral meetings with key ministers in Oman, strengthening ties in energy and tourism. During her visit, she met with Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, to discuss energy cooperation.

The Foreign Minister highlighted Nepal’s focus on hydropower, solar power, wind power, and green hydrogen, emphasizing mutual benefits through collaboration.

Eng. Al Aufi emphasized the importance of transitioning from fossil fuels to greener energy for sustainable development and expressed optimism about the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in energy cooperation between Nepal and Oman.

In a separate meeting with Salim bin Mohammed bin Said Al Mahroqi, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, the two sides discussed enhancing tourism ties, particularly in adventure tourism. They signed an MoU on tourism cooperation, aiming to boost business opportunities for both nations.

Foreign Minister’s visit, which included attending the 8th Indian Ocean Conference, resulted in thirteen bilateral meetings, two MoUs, and interactions with Nepali diplomats and the Nepali community in Oman, strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Nepal and the Sultanate of Oman.
