Final report on Saurya Airlines crash made public

KATHMANDU: The government has officially released the final investigation report on the Saurya Airlines plane crash involving aircraft 9N–AME (CRJ-200).

The report was handed over to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey by the chair of the investigation commission, Ratish Chandralal Suman, during a formal event held at the ministry on Friday.

Accepting the report, Minister Pandey said the investigation was conducted without any assumptions or external pressure, and pledged that the ministry would fully implement the commission’s recommendations.

The ministry also made the report publicly accessible via its official website immediately after receiving it.

The aircraft had crashed near the runway on July 24, 2024, shortly after taking off from Tribhuvan International Airport en route to Pokhara.

The crash claimed the lives of 18 people, while pilot Manish Shakya was miraculously rescued alive.

The government had formed the accident investigation commission on the same day of the crash, with Suman, a former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), appointed to lead the probe.

The report is the result of months of detailed study, investigation, and analysis into the causes and contributing factors of the crash.
