Peace and security situation satisfactory: Home Minister Lekhak

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has asserted that the overall peace and security situation in the country remains satisfactory.

Speaking at a meeting of the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee on Friday, he said the Ministry of Home Affairs is actively working to maintain law and order and to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

He emphasized that the ministry is focused on preventing and controlling crime, ensuring thorough investigations when crimes occur, and prosecuting offenders in accordance with the law.

“The overall peace and security situation in the country is good,” Minister Lekhak stated. “The primary responsibility of the Home Ministry is to maintain peace and security. Our foremost duty is to protect the lives and property of citizens.”

He added that establishing good governance, implementing the constitution and laws, and managing disasters are among the ministry’s ongoing responsibilities.

The Home Minister also noted that efforts are being made to apprehend individuals who have fled after committing crimes, and that crime control remains a continuous priority.

Calling for collective action, Lekhak highlighted the importance of tackling drug abuse and improving road safety. “Reducing, controlling, and ultimately eliminating drug abuse requires joint efforts,” he said, adding that minimizing road accidents is another key focus of the ministry.
