Land Revenue offices collect Rs 51.42 billion in FY 2024/25

KATHMANDU: Land Revenue Offices across Nepal collected an impressive Rs 51.42 billion in revenue during the fiscal year 2081/82 BS (2024/25), according to the Ministry of Land Reform, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

The amount reflects the critical role of land administration in national revenue generation and showcases notable improvement in the ministry’s overall performance.

Minister Balaram Adhikari, highlighting the ministry’s achievements over the past year, stated that the impressive revenue collection was complemented by several reforms and initiatives across the land and cooperative sectors.

A total of 27,358 land ownership certificates were distributed through the Land Problem Settlement Commission, Special Survey, and related bodies.

Additionally, a new directive for land measurement has been introduced, and budget has been allocated for the establishment of a land bank in the current fiscal year.

In the cooperative sector, the minister noted a major institutional milestone with the establishment of the National Cooperative Regulation Authority, aimed at enforcing reforms and addressing longstanding problems in the sector.

One key success, he said, was the repayment of Rs 3.71 billion to 8,156 depositors from troubled cooperative institutions during the last fiscal year.

Minister Adhikari also cited achievements such as the distribution of identity cards for economically disadvantaged households, and revenue exemptions granted to women and individuals with special needs in land registration processes, as further indicators of the ministry’s commitment to social inclusion and reform-oriented governance.
