Three, including an Indian national, arrested for drug trafficking



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three individuals, including an Indian citizen, on charges of drug trafficking and the sale and distribution of narcotics.

According to Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya, those arrested are Munna Yadav, 19, of Raxaul-4 in Motihari district, Bihar, India, currently residing in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-7, Kathmandu; Dorraj Pariyar, 23, of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-5, Morang, currently living in Kuleshwor, Kathmandu-14; and Krishna Bhandari, 34, of Mirlung Rural Municipality-3, Tanahun, also residing in Kuleshwor, Kathmandu-14.

SP Acharya said the arrests were made following a special tip-off that drugs were being sold and distributed in the Kuleshwor area. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were transporting and distributing narcotics from Raxaul, India, to Kathmandu. Police identified Yadav as the mastermind of the operation.

During the operation, police recovered 2,395 diazepam injections, 2,300 promethazine hydrochloride injections, 2,156 buprenorphine injections, 2,700 tramadol hydrochloride capsules (50 mg each), and 10 mobile phones from the suspects.

The three accused have been sent to the District Police Complex, Bhadrakali, for further investigation and necessary legal action, SP Acharya said.
