Santosh Pariyar and Manushi in talks with Janardan’s team to form new party

KATHMANDU: Santosh Pariyar, who recently left the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has begun discussions with leader Janardan Sharma, who departed from the Maoist Centre and launched the Progressive National Campaign.

In a café in Lalitpur, Sharma, Ram Karki, Sudan Kirati, and Manushi Bhattarai of Naya Shakti Nepal held talks on forming a new political party.

A short while after the meeting started, former RSP chief whip Pariyar also joined the discussions. Following this, it has become almost certain that he will align himself with Janardan’s campaign.

“Discussions are ongoing. It is likely that Santosh Pariyar and Manushi will also join our team,” a leader told Khabarhub from the café. “We have been in talks for many days. Santoshji and Manushiji are leaders we need.”

Both leaders are enthusiastic about joining the Campaign, according to participants. Other members of the RSP are also involved in the discussions.

Sources say that talks are moving toward the formation of a new party. Two names are under consideration: Progressive Democratic Party and Progressive Citizens Party.
