NC Central Working Committee meeting begins today

Deuba to make first public appearance since Gen-Z attack

KATHMANDU: The Central Working Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) is scheduled to take place today at 1 PM at the party’s central office in Sanepa.

Notably, party President Sher Bahadur Deuba is expected to attend the meeting—marking his first public appearance since being injured during the Gen-Z movement attack on his residence in Budhanilkantha on September 9. Several top party officials had remained absent from the party’s previous meeting.

According to Krishna Prasad Poudel, Chief Secretary of the Central Office, the meeting will focus on discussing the shifting political landscape following the Gen-Z movement and formulating the party’s future strategy.

Although top Nepali Congress leaders have been in continuous internal discussions for the past several days, the agenda for today’s Central Committee meeting has yet to be finalized.

The delay stems from disagreements over a proposal by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma to hold the party’s 15th General Convention within December.
