Education Minister aims to pass School Education Bill by June 29

KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Raghujee Pant, announced today that efforts are underway to pass the School Education Bill through the House of Representatives by June 29 (Asar 15).

Speaking at the National Dialogue Program on Sustainability and Excellence of Community Campuses on Saturday, Minister Pant stated that the government is pushing forward with the aim of getting the bill approved by the specified date.

“I want to make sure that we pass the School Education Bill from the House of Representatives by June 29, if possible,” Minister Pant said.

Minister Pant also strongly highlighted that students should not be sent abroad immediately after completing Grade 12.

“To be truly honest, what I feel strongly about is that there should be a national debate: students who have passed plus two should not be sent abroad under any circumstances,” Pant said.

He expressed concern over some consultancies that reportedly charge students Rs 1 million to Rs 1.5 million, promising jobs worth Rs 100,000 immediately upon arrival in countries like Korea.

Minister Pant voiced his objection to such practices, highlighting the need to retain young talent within the country.
