KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of the possibility of rainfall in areas of Rasuwa affected by the Bhotekoshi flash flood, potentially hampering ongoing search and rescue operations.
Meteorologist Hari Prasad Dahal of the department told RSS that most parts of the Bhotekoshi flood-affected areas of Rasuwa are likely to receive moderate rainfall today.
“Heavy rainfall may occur in one or two places, which could affect search and rescue operations. Therefore, precautions are necessary,” he said.
The department said many parts of the country’s hilly and mountainous regions are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, as well as snowfall in some mountainous areas, this afternoon.
Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely in many parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as some parts of the Terai in Madhes and Koshi provinces.
The department has forecast heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces; the hilly areas of Karnali Province; and the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Tonight, many parts of the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as some other hilly and mountainous areas, are likely to receive moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning, with snowfall possible in some areas.
