KATHMANDU: A team of 82 security personnel has been mobilized to rescue people trapped inside a tunnel of the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project following the Bhotekoshi flood in Nepal’s Rasuwa district.
According to the Military Public Relations and Information Directorate, the team, comprising 62 personnel from the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, has been deployed in the Trishuli 3A tunnel area for the rescue operation.
Rescue operations have been underway in the area since Friday under the command of the Nepal Army. A total of 191 people were safely rescued from the tunnel on Friday.
As of 8 am Saturday, 2,265 people, including Nepali and foreign nationals affected by the flood, had been rescued by Nepal Army helicopters and taken to safe locations. They were rescued from Timure, Syafrubesi, Dhunche and Mailung areas of Rasuwa.
The Directorate said more than 6,700 Nepal Army personnel have been deployed in the affected districts. They are coordinating search and rescue operations, providing emergency medical treatment to the injured and distributing relief materials.
