Nepal to face Qatar in Super Six clash of T20 World Cup Qualifier today

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Qatar today in their second Super Six fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier being held in Al Amerat, Oman.

Nepal heads into the match with strong momentum after edging past the UAE by just one run in a thrilling encounter on Sunday. The victory gave Nepal two crucial points in the Super Six round.

With a total of four points, including two carried over from their group-stage win against Japan, Nepal currently sits second on the Super Six points table, behind host nation Oman, which leads on net run rate. The UAE is placed third, followed by Japan, Samoa, and Qatar.

A win against Qatar would further strengthen Nepal’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February to March next year. The top two teams from the Super Six will secure qualification.

Nepal will next face Oman on Wednesday, a match that could prove decisive for their World Cup hopes.

Today’s match between Nepal and Qatar is scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m. Nepali Standard Time. In their past three encounters, Nepal has won twice, while Qatar has claimed one victory.
