RSP lawmakers protest in parliament as Home Minister addresses the HoR

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers staged a protest in Parliament on Friday by surrounding the well and chanting slogans while Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was addressing the House.

Despite a two-point agreement between three major parties paving the way for the resumption of the House session, RSP and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) expressed dissatisfaction and continued to obstruct the proceedings.

While the agreement between the ruling coalition and the main opposition CPN-UML enabled the Parliament to resume, RSP and RPP criticized the deal for lacking a concrete solution to the ongoing visit visa scandal.

Notably, the CPN (Maoist Centre), a key member of the ruling coalition, reached an understanding with the CPN-UML on behalf of the government—raising eyebrows within other coalition partners who were left out of the negotiation process.
