Preliminary Report: Fuel switches cut-off before Air India crash killing 260

NEW DELHI: A preliminary investigation into last month’s Air India crash reveals that both fuel control switches were set to the cut-off position—an action that typically shuts down the engines—just moments before the plane went down, according to BBC.

The cockpit voice recorder captured confusion between the two pilots. One pilot asks the other why he “did the cut-off,” while the second denies having done so, according to the report.

An Air India spokesperson stated that the airline is continuing to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

The crash claimed at least 260 lives. The only survivor, British citizen Vishwashkumar Ramesh, escaped the wreckage through an opening in the aircraft’s fuselage.
