JHAPA: Khagendra Raj Angdembe, the in-charge of the Youth Federation Nepal, Jhapa district, and two others were seriously injured in an attack last night.
The injured, including Bishwadeep Rajbanshi and Ajay Khawas, are receiving treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod.
Angdembe, who sustained severe facial injuries from a khukuri attack, is in the ICU, while the other two are being treated in the ortho ward for injuries to their hands and other body parts.
The incident took place after Angdembe was called to a house by Khagendra Khaling of Birtamod-4 around 1 am. According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred as soon as Angdembe reached the chain gate to enter the house.
Ajay Khawas, one of the injured, said the attack was premeditated and intended to kill Angdembe.
“I tried to stop him when he attacked me with a khukuri,” Khawas said. “Four of my fingers were cut off. The attack was planned.”
Meanwhile, Bishwadeep Rajbanshi was attacked by four people from the same group on a motorcycle after leaving the Durbar Restaurant on Bhadrapur Road.
Police Inspector Santosh Rai of the Area Police Office, Anarmani, said a search operation is underway to apprehend those involved in the attack.
