Minister Ghising directs construction company to speed up work at TU Cricket Ground

KATHMANDU:  Minister for Energy, Physical Infrastructure, and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has instructed the construction company to complete and hand over the TU Cricket Ground project in Kirtipur as soon as possible.

During an on-site inspection on Thursday, Minister Ghising urged the company to speed up the work, noting that the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is approaching.

According to the construction company, the parapet construction is nearly complete, and the installation of floodlights will be finished within a month. The minister said the first phase of work is expected to be completed before the NPL begins in Mangsir, and preparations are underway to start the tender process for the second and third phases. He assured that there will be no shortage of budget for the stadium’s upgrading project.

Similarly, CAN Secretary Paras Khadka said the TU Cricket Ground will take on a new look within the next two to three weeks, adding that preparations for the NPL, scheduled to start on November 17, are in full swing.

The parapet and floodlight installation works at the Kirtipur Cricket Ground began last year under a contract agreement. As the project could not be completed within the stipulated time, the contract period has been extended for ongoing construction.
