Hiking trail connects tourist site Narsinghkot to Burtibang

BAGLUNG: A new hiking trail has been constructed to connect the scenic tourist destination of Narsinghkot in Nisikhola Rural Municipality-7 with Burtibang Bazaar in Baglung district.

The trail, complete with concrete railings, aims to provide easier access for both domestic and international tourists.

The project was implemented by the Tourism and Industry Office, Baglung, with funding of Rs 1 million from the Gandaki Province Government for the current fiscal year.

According to Narayan Prasad Rijal, Planning Officer at the office, the trail includes around 250 concrete railings brought from Sera in Dhorpatan Municipality-2 and was constructed through a local Consumers Committee.

Narsinghkot, once ruled by King Bhure during the Baise Chaubise Kingdom era, has recently seen a rise in domestic tourism. The development of tourism infrastructure in the area is contributing to its growing popularity.

Chairman of Nisikhola Rural Municipality-7, Deepak Kunwar, stated that accessibility has significantly improved with the construction of the hiking trail.

Although Burtibang Bazaar lies nearby, previously reaching Narsinghkot was more difficult. Now, along with the trail, the rural municipality has built facilities such as the Kalika Temple, drinking water systems, public toilets, and rest areas, at an additional cost of Rs 2 million.

Kunwar also shared that a playground is currently under construction at the site. While it takes about one hour to reach Narsinghkot by car from Burtibang, the hike takes around one and a half hours.

Due to the lack of an alternative route aside from the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road, vehicle travel remains lengthy.

“Narsinghkot had great potential but was long overlooked,” said Chairman Kunwar. “Now, with growing awareness and improved infrastructure, the area is receiving daily visitors, especially on holidays. We are also focusing on promotion and further development to boost tourism.”

From the vantage point of Narsinghkot, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of surrounding districts including Baglung, Burtibang, Myagdi, Pyuthan, Gulmi, Rolpa, Rukum, Palpa, and Arghakhanchi, as well as breathtaking sights of mountain ranges like the Dhaulagiri Himal.
