Royalist protest at TIA causes issue for passengers

KATHMANDU: Passengers traveling through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) faced significant inconvenience on Sunday due to a protest by royalists at the airport gate.

Travelers were forced to carry their luggage through the entrance as the protest blocked vehicle movement. Police also restricted relatives from entering the main gate to see off or receive passengers, adding to the chaos.

The demonstration led to traffic disruptions in the surrounding areas.

Authorities diverted vehicles from Tinkune to Gaushala to manage congestion, but traffic jams were reported in other parts of the city as well.

The protest, organized to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah upon his return from Pokhara, drew a large crowd, prompting heightened security measures around the airport premises.
