BIRATNAGAR: A total of 160 people from Koshi Province remain unaccounted for following the devastating floods of August 26 that swept downstream through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems after originating in Rasuwa.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Yogendra Singh Thapa of the Province Police Office, 204 people from the province were initially reported missing following the disaster. Of them, 30 have since made contact with their families or authorities, while one person has died, one has been injured and 12 have been rescued.
The 160 people who remain missing are from 13 districts of Koshi Province. They include 14 from Jhapa, 12 from Ilam, one from Panchthar, five from Taplejung, 18 from Morang, 21 from Sunsari, two from Dhankuta, three from Sankhuwasabha, 21 from Bhojpur, three from Udayapur, 48 from Okhaldhunga, 11 from Khotang and 45 from Solukhumbu.
