Dadagaun Health Unit begins services from new building after 11 years

MYAGDI: After operating from a rented space for over a decade, the health unit in Dadagaun, Malika Rural Municipality-3, has finally begun providing services from its own building.

Established in 2071 BS, the health unit had been running from a cramped rented house for the past 11 years.

Ward Chair of Malika-3, Moti Prasad Budha, said the newly constructed building now houses the health services and offers improved facilities.

The unit was initially established to serve more than 300 households from the settlements of Dadagaun, Khaten, Aula, Syagalung, Igre, and Saragdi, who previously had difficulty accessing services from the Rumgaun-based health post.

The ground floor of the new building includes treatment rooms, a pharmacy, support services, an office for the unit chief, and a meeting hall. The first floor contains residential quarters for two health worker families.

The health post was constructed with a federal government special grant of Rs 15.98 million, according to Malika Rural Municipality’s Technical Branch Chief Deepak Sapkota. Construction was carried out over fiscal years 2079/80 and 2080/81, and the building was recently brought into operation following the installation of fencing and furniture from the current fiscal year’s budget.

A birthing center is also under construction within the same premises, supported by a Rs 10 million special grant from the federal government in the current fiscal year. The second floor of the birthing center has been completed.

Malika Rural Municipality, which has seven wards, operates a basic hospital in Darwang and health posts in all other wards. Chair Budha said that for residents of Lumpipar and Patle in Malika-3 who are unable to reach Dadagaun, a community health unit has been established in Patle.

Except for Ward No. 1 Niskot, health post buildings have been completed across all wards. Plans are in place to construct a health post in Niskot with support from the Ministry of Urban Development.
