Policies and Programs cannot address people’s expectations: Lawmaker Aryal

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center lawmaker Urmila Aryal has criticized the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year, claiming that they fail to meet the expectations of the people.

She argued that the government has removed important programs from the past, which undermines the potential for real progress.

Speaking in today’s National Assembly session on the government’s proposed policies and programs for fiscal year 2082-83 (2025/26), Aryal expressed disappointment, stating that the policies do not inspire the enthusiasm needed to address the country’s pressing challenges.

She called on the government to include key initiatives in the programs, such as projects of national pride, the commercial use of marijuana, connecting returning migrant workers with enterprises, and addressing the issue of squatters.

Furthermore, Aryal urged that the policy framework clearly outline plans for building a self-reliant economy and recommended that the government include measures for ensuring economic prosperity in all provinces.
