Speaker directs government to address issues raised in Parliament

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has instructed the government to respond to various concerns raised in the House of Representatives (HoR) over time.

During today’s HoR meeting, lawmakers from the Janamat Party protested the recent detention of the party’s patron, Resham Chaudhary, who was held by police for several hours without explanation.

Janamat Party lawmaker Abdul Khan declared that the party would obstruct House proceedings until the government offers a clear and satisfactory explanation of the incident.

In response, Speaker Ghimire called on lawmakers to allow the session to proceed, assuring them that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is scheduled to address the issue during the May 8 House meeting. The matter has also been formally included in the parliamentary agenda.

Meanwhile, the budget session has commenced with party-wise discussions on the government’s newly unveiled policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
