NPL: Janakpur wins toss, opts to bat

KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions and Janakpur Bolts are currently facing off in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), underway in the capital.

Janakpur won the toss and elected to bat at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Lumbini, with six points from six games, desperately need a win to secure a playoff spot.

If Lumbini wins today, Pokhara Avengers, Chitwan Rhinos and Janakpur will be eliminated. However, if Janakpur wins, the points table will become more competitive. Janakpur have collected only two points from five games so far; a win would take them to four points.

A Janakpur victory would intensify the race among all teams heading into the final league matches. Sudurpaschim Royals remain undefeated and have already secured a spot in the first qualifier with 12 points.

Kathmandu Gurkhas and Biratnagar Kings are also safe in the playoffs, while Karnali Yaks have been eliminated. Eight teams are participating in the NPL.
