Petroleum imports worth over Rs 16 billion recorded through Kakarbhitta



KATHMANDU: In the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 16.19 billion have been imported into Nepal through the eastern border point of Kakarbhitta.

The imports include petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene.

According to Ishwarkumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, this marks a 5.40% (Rs 917.7 million) decrease in petroleum imports compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Despite the decline in overall import value, revenue generated from petroleum imports has increased by 5.90%, equivalent to Rs 437.4 million. The customs office collected Rs 7.83 billion in revenue from petroleum imports over the 10-month period.

As per the office’s data, 84,300 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs. 7.34 billion were imported. Similarly, 59,976 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs. 5.54 billion were brought in, along with 21,106 metric tons of LPG worth Rs. 2.34 billion, and 6,060 kiloliters of ATF valued at Rs. 559.4 million were imported.

The office also stated that 2,152 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs. 196.9 million also entered the country.
