Large quantity of brown sugar seized in Jhapa



JHAPA: Police have seized a significant quantity of the banned drug “brown sugar” from Kankai Municipality in Jhapa district.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, around 200 grams of brown sugar were recovered from a bag on a motorcycle bearing the Indian registration number BR 37 Ta 9198.

The motorcycle was en route from Sharanamati to Surunga along the Surunga-Jhapa road section in Kankai-5.

The suspect fled the scene after abandoning both the motorcycle and the bag when a police team attempted to stop the vehicle at around 8:40 AM.

“Two rounds of warning shots were fired in the air to stop the rider, who escaped upon seeing the police,” said DSP Khadka.
