RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane taken to Rupandehi

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, who was arrested Friday night following a High Court order, was flown to Rupandehi this morning in connection with the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal.

SP Ranjit Singh Rathore confirmed that Lamichhane was taken to Rupandehi on the first Yeti Airlines flight today.

He will be held in the custody of the District Police Office, Rupandehi, for two days as the weekend public holidays prevent further proceedings until Monday.

The Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court on Friday ordered Lamichhane to be remanded in custody, overturning an earlier decision by the district court that had released him on bail. He had previously posted bail of Rs 10 million.

Lamichhane was arrested from his residence at Hepali Heights, Budhanilkantha, and kept overnight at the District Police Complex in Bhadrakali before being flown to Rupandehi. This marks the second time he has been arrested in connection with the case.
