Finance Minister stresses on maximum use of information technology



KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has stressed on the need to make the information technology system related to government service delivery modern, effective and reliable.

During a discussion on the status of various information technology systems in use in the Ministry of Finance and subordinate bodies, he said that the use of information technology is indispensable to make service delivery faster and more efficient and effective.

He also directed the concerned authorities to increase the use of cutting-edge technology to make service delivery reliable and uninterrupted, that no work should be affected due to the information system, and to develop the necessary human resources and technical capacity for IT operation.

In response, the officials of the participating agencies stated that the information technology systems in their respective agencies are being periodically audited and are strong from a security perspective, and presented additional investment plans to increase the backup capacity of the system.

They also shared that the demand for skilled technical human resource is increasing as the use of information technology increases, but retaining them within the organization is challenging due to poor benefits.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Poudel also said that the government will take appropriate policy decisions to address such problems.
