KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat, Oman, has officially started issuing Labour Permits for Nepali workers who are legally working in Oman but have not yet obtained such permits from Nepal.
The first live enrollment for the legalization of Labour Permits in foreign countries began on January 31, 2025, in Salalah, Oman.
The new provision for the legalization of Labour Permits directly through the Embassy is expected to greatly benefit Nepali workers, allowing them to receive various benefits in accordance with the policy of the Government of Nepal, according to a statement issued by the Embassy on Tuesday.
Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman, Dornath Aryal, expressed confidence that the legalization of Labour Permits would significantly help Nepali workers access multiple benefits.
He also emphasized the importance of the social security fund, promoting remittance flow through legal channels, and urged workers to strictly adhere to the rules, regulations, traditions, and culture of the host country.
On the occasion, Surya Bahadur Khatri, Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, congratulated everyone on the first-ever legalization of Labour Permits provided by the Embassy abroad, and highlighted its significance.
Nepali workers present at the event expressed their satisfaction, noting that the Embassy regularly provides services such as passport renewal, legalization of labour permits, and other services in Salalah, located about 1,100 kilometers from Muscat.
Representatives from the Nepali Social Club, volunteers, and Nepali associations also actively participated in and supported the program.
Nepali workers currently employed by companies in Oman without a Labour Permit from Nepal can now obtain the necessary permit at the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat.
To legalize their Labour Permits, workers must create a profile through the FEIMS system, upload required documents, submit an online application, and then appear in person at the Embassy for biometrics.
