CHITWAN: Tiger sightings in Chitwan National Park have increased noticeably, park officials and security personnel said, following the reopening of jeep safaris after long-term closures.
The uptick in sightings is linked to heightened wildlife activity as animals move more freely in areas previously less accessible to visitors. Both domestic and foreign tourists have expressed excitement at seeing tigers during safari rides, often sharing their delight with guides and park staff.
Saroj Chaudhary, a local guide, said a British couple recently spotted a tiger near Bhimle Post and were thrilled, reflecting the growing enthusiasm among visitors. Chief Conservation Officer Dr. Ganesh Pant confirmed that the park has seen more frequent wildlife encounters, particularly tigers, as vegetation thins during the dry season and safaris provide better access.
National park officials say there are 128 adult tigers in the park, with a rising prey population supporting the increase in tiger numbers.
