KATHMANDU: Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, has shared commitment of the metropolis to fulfill the dreams of Gen-Z martyrs with citizen-friendly governance and zero tolerance to corruption.
In the context of Gen-Z Martyrs’ Day, she paid tributes to martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Gen-Z Uprising staged on September 8, 2025, taking up the issue of good governance and corruption-free governance.
“Many political revolutions and struggles took place in different periods from 1997 BS to Gen-Z movement for sovereignty, dignity and citizen rights. The democratic and federal governance systems we are enjoying today are the outcomes harvested on the foundation of these movements,” Dangol underlined.
She opined, “Kathmandu has been the direct witness to every historical change. It has always conveyed the message that government power should be for the citizens’ welfare and service. We are committed to establish ‘citizen-friendly governance’ to make government services hassle-free, tech-savvy and take it at doorsteps of citizens. We have been moving forward with a determination to fully ensure the fundamental rights like health, education, drinking water and clean environment. Our main goal is to build a discrimination-free society where everyone could live with self-respect.”
Saying they are heading to the path sketched by martyrs, the acting mayor underlined that they have been continuously involved in realizing people’s mandate inherited from different movements including Gen-Z to bring positive change in living standard of the citizens through promotion of local economy and infrastructure development.
‘We believe that Gen-Z martyrs, who lost their lives in their young age, would get eternal peace only if we walk unwaveringly on the path shown by martyrs,” she emphasized. (RSS)
