Dahal urges Resham Chaudhary to merge with Maoist party

KAILALI: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that protecting, utilizing, and furthering the political rights achieved through the leadership of the Maoist movement and the sacrifices of millions is the party’s responsibility.

Speaking at the fourth National Conference of the Tharu National Liberation Front, which began today in Tikapur, Kailali, Dahal stressed the need to safeguard federalism, inclusion, and proportional representation; rights gained through the people’s struggle.

“Corrupt and opportunistic forces are trying to roll back the rights secured for oppressed communities and regions. It is the Maoists’ duty to defeat such conspiracies and uphold these achievements with unwavering commitment,” he said.

Dahal also clarified his party’s stance on ethnic and regional fronts in the context of socialist revolution, stating that while these concepts were crucial during the democratic revolution, their relevance had been debated in recent times.

“Our recent central committee meeting concluded that ethnic and regional fronts remain even more essential in the socialist revolution. We are committed to revitalizing inactive fronts and strengthening them,” he added.

Asserting that the Maoist party remains the leading force for the Tharu community’s liberation, Dahal dismissed the need for a separate political force to champion their rights. He also called on Resham Chaudhary’s Nagarik Unmukti Party to merge with the Maoists.

Referring to the Tikapur incident, Dahal claimed that a conspiracy was hatched and that keeping a Tharu leader imprisoned under false pretexts was unjust. He reiterated that during his tenure as prime minister, he had made the decision to release Chaudhary in recognition of the struggle.

Dahal further urged Tharu leaders who had left the Maoist party for other political groups to return and actively engage in strengthening Tharu rights.
